3D Modeller or Concept Artist?

I've always had the passion for art. I used to draw all over my parent's furniture when I was around 4 or 5. Anything I can grab to draw with I will use and any surface I could draw on I will draw on. Art in general was my passion, I felt it was my talent but everybody says being an artist is useless and will get me nowhere. I accepted this but I did not give up on using my love for art for something else. Throughout my life I have done website designing, texturing 3D models, modelling 3D models, drawing concept art, photoshopping photos together. I realised that most of my art was done electronically so I thought maybe I'll be a graphics designer but then graphics designing has a lot of branches set out of it so I chose the couple I wanted to focus on the most and I settled for 3D Modeller OR a concept artist.

3D modeller is my main interest currently and I have chose this because ever since I was 13, I've been working with 3D models, texturing it only and then when I became 15 I decided to try out actually modelling the models. It was fustrating, it was difficult, my first proper model I tried to make was literally the first time I ever tried to model something. I literally threw myself into the deep end with this one to actually model something that took some basic skills. I didn't know anything and just a few basic tools and it took me around 4 hours just to make a cat tail. Though after a few practises, I started making more complicated things, I experimented with things and messed around and learnt everything myself.

I realised with art, it wasn't exactly drawing that's fun, it's the satisfaction of knowing you've done it all by yourself and that people admire it and most importantly that you admire it and you hold it up proud like a medal.

I understand getting into the 3D Modelling team is rather easy if you have the right qualifications and skill. I once asked an experienced worker that has worked in the gaming industries for about 10 years and have worked with the Assassin's Creed team in Canada. He's currently a lead animator in a game's company in Nottingham and I asked him if it was difficult to get into the 3D Modelling them and this is what he said..
"Studios always needs 3D modellers so you'll be fine. It can split into either character or enviroment modelling but the main thing is that you enjoy it as it is time consuming."

I have also researched on websites to see what the main requirements were and many have said that I will need to be skilled in 3D Modelling , 3D Rendering , 3ds Max and Maya. Some requests for you to have worked in industry but some does not and applies training for you on a specific program. In general it is good to learn about different 3D programs so that I have a broader area to work with and it will help a lot.

Also many has said that knowing the basics of drawing in 2D and sculpting is important in almost anything you do within art and I have a good advance on this because I am also a concept artist as well as a 3D Modeller. So this will not be a problem with me.
