Hiya! This is a short review on the game Fairy Bloom Freesia that I have recently finished.
This is a Japanese indie game produced by Edelweiss. The genre is quite unclear but in my eyes it's a hack-n-slash/platform/jrpg type of game*. The reason being is that during game-play you fight monsters in one area that drop from the top of your screen and afterwards you get that typical Japanese dialogue popup that tell you what each character says.
In my opinion, this game is absolutely amazing. The graphics and art is amazing and the music is heart warming too. The battle system is just so addictive mess around with as you develop many different skills and special moves and it's just fun to mess around with those as you play the game. They're satisfying to play around with and also the effects of the attacks are beautiful.
This game is just beautiful in every way; the background scenery in the dialogue breaks and the background to the battle area and the theme is interesting to look at and different themes have their own little special way of expressing the it. The areas you fight in are never the same and they are different every time you move to another map/area.
There are a couple of things I'm a little disappointed in though. The monsters that spawned lack variety and the default enemies you attack are only different in other areas by colour and attack style. The semi-bosses are all the same too. Thankfully the bosses are challenging and all are different and very very fun to battle if you like a good challenge.
Also each "day" is extremely repetitive, the music does not change and the area size is the same and like I said the enemies were also very similar and disappointing.

Another thing I was a little upset by was how little passive perks you get to activate at a time. That was two. That is not enough. Especially because you get more passive perks available than special attacks (literally). BUT I guess that is what makes the game quite challenging for others, the lack of support but then again... why put in that many passive perks if only 2 can be activated at a time?!
The story in this game is also very nice, it's not only for entertainment but this also teaches us morals about nature and how corrupted us humans can be. It is also a heartwarming yet sad ending but happy endings are boring anyways and predictable and the fact that this game's story was actually a little unpredictable, I was very happy with.
This game is good but short (good things don't last long), cheap and definitely worth more than what I paid for. The main point of this game is to enjoy the art work, scenery, music, pretty light effects from special attacks and the lovely story. There could have been a lot more they could have done with this game and I think there is a lot of room for development.
8/10 would be my rating, there are some flaws that may let some of us down but in general this is a very good game.
